The ant is a symbol of the strength and resilience of fighting cancer, and the bud symbolizing hope of recovery. The title, Moving Heaven On Earth, tells the story of doing absolutely everything possible to survive. It implies the quiet and undeniable strength of the ant, able to move with monumental weight upon herself. Creating this work is part of my healing journey from cancer. It also serves as a love letter to families, friends, and survivors of all types and stages of cancer. The 1.25" depth and hand-stretched pine frame give the piece a confident presence while the matte finish keeps glare low and colors feeling tactile and painterly.
